Fish Taco Anyone?

The Fish Taco Pins have arrived!! These lovely little creations are by Natasha Tikunoff. We've been waiting for her creations for awhile. I met her back in June at the Long Beach Art Walk and was in awe. I purchased a crochet two-headed ducky for my daughter and knew I had to have her little critters at The Kids... She has also brought us crochet mini cupcakes, soft serve, and betta fish. Everything is on our website, except the betta fish. I was having a hard time with the photos. But they are amazing. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Hello

I just wanted to let everyone know about a pretty cool art show going on in our neighborhood this weekend. Great art and a great cause. We are very excited, because Steph Calvert, who will be having a show at "The Kids.." next month has donated her art to this event, as well as Melissa Contreras, who had a show at our Echo Park store last year. Also featured is graffiti artist Eyeone, who is in the "Lost" graffiti book that we have at the store. If you happen to live or be in Long Beach this Saturday, don't miss it. New Art Coming to The Kids...

We are getting ready to welcome Steph Calvert's new series of watercolors, "Coming Clean", to The Kids Are Alright. This series is inspired by her experiences in Catholic school. Her work will be up from Sept 1-30, and the Opening Reception will be on Sat. Sept. 13th from 4pm-8pm!!
I am so smitten with her work, I can't wait. The Kids... will also be donating 10% of our sales that day to our local preschool, Belmont Heights Church Preschool Scholarship Fund, which helps needy families send their little ones to preschool. Please come out and support a great cause and check out Steph's super cute work. Hopefully we will also have prints of her work as well. Check out her fabulous website, www.heartsandlaserbeams.com

My Heroes - Green Diesel!!

My new heroes are the folks at Green Diesel!!

We were so excited last year when we finally got our Mercedes Diesel converted by the fabulous people over at Love Craft. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get anyone to deliver the filtered used oil and have been using clean soybean oil for the past year. Although, we were very happy to be doing our part in not giving our $$ to the mean oil companies and hopefully helping the environment some, we've been paying over $5 a gallon for the clean soy.

Yesterday I finally got the call we've been waiting for. Cole at Green Diesel got us on their delivery route!! Now we're paying $3 a gallon and using recycled oil as well as helping the environment and not putting any extra cash in the gas man's pocket. Woo!! Hoo!!

Check out their website! http://www.greendiesel1.com/

Thank you Cole and Green Diesel!! You all rule!!
