Handmade Childrens Clothing and Toys May Be Outlawed Soon!

Starting Feb. 10th it will be against the law to sell any childrens clothing, toys and goods not tested according to a law passed in August 2008. This will really affect all the small businesses and companies (like us) making and selling handmade goods. Most of us can't afford to pay for the testing required, which could cost thousands of dollars. If found guilty of selling untested goods we face fines and possibly jail time as retailers and manufacturers. Please read the links below for more info regarding this.

If you want to join us in trying to stop this craziness from going forward please write to your local Congress person and or Senator. The 2nd link can get you to your local politician and I believe they have sample letters you can use.

If the CPSIA goes forward as planned this will definitely change what we carry at "The Kids Are Alright". It could also mean the end for theOutfit which has specialized in finding amazing unique, safe and just all around cute handmade goods for kids and babies over the past year. Please help us in stopping this from going through. We have until January 30, 2009 to submit letters and contact our politician regarding this matter. The last thing our economy needs is for more people to lose their jobs and or businesses.
